As part of The Magnum Foundation's Photography, Expanded initiative, The End of the Middle is a multimedia collaborative exposing the increasing impossibility of raising a family and sustaining a middle-class lifestyle in America. Through engaging stories by writer Alice Quart and compelling photography by Alice Proujansky, The End of the Middle shows the personal ramifications of economic inequality and lets audiences know they are not alone in their struggles with debt, cost of childcare, or unemployment.
My Roles: Art Director / Collaboration Facilitator / User-Experience Designer / Copy Editor
The Problem: Collaborating with a journalist, two photographers, and a videographer to combine various existing assets into one transmedia narrative and creating an online presence to pitch the campaign to potential partners and funders.
The Results: Over the course of an 8 week collaboration, I helped define the shared goals for the project, then designed and built a simple website that combined the work of the multiple collaborators while providing each component it’s own opportunity to take center stage. I also established a social media presents for the group and strategized next steps for creating an impactful media campaign.
