With a background in religious studies, an MFA in design strategies, and an intense love of pop culture, what links my (seemingly) disparate interests is a fascination with how the stories we tell influence our beliefs and behaviors.

I use my expertise in user-centered design to help media makers plan engaging storytelling experiences across platforms and medium. Whether it is an international advocacy campaign or an insurance commercial, thoughtful design can generate solutions that are engaging, socially responsible, and most importantly effective.

My work has given me the opportunity to collaborate with award-winning journalists, photographers and filmmakers and travel around the world to research and design projects in India, Fiji, and Guatemala. Also, I was once interviewed by MTV News over text message for a project I designed as part of their campaign on implicit bias. I only had one typo.

I am a unabashed nerd and self-identified feminist. Born and raised in Missouri, I am currently living in Brooklyn, NY where I work as a freelance designer. If you want to learn more about me, collaborate on a project, or just talk about In Bruges or something, feel free to reach out! My e-mail is hey@josephrw.com
